PPSM 2017: Building Student Character – Polkesma

 

The PPSM (New Student Orientation) are program held for new students of Polkesma every year, but this time it changes little bit different in term of duration and the comming of new study program. They are students of DIV Health Promotion and DIII Pharmaceutical and Food Analyst. In addition, the program ran three-days leadership traning held in Dodik Bela Negara, city of Malang, and two-days after for inhouse campus introduction and exhibition.

This activity introduced new students about Malang State Health Polytechnic (Polkesma) to form a character as a health professional. Those character are honesty, decency, responsibility in carrying out duties, independence, and kinship. they are trained to own the character because it will bring the name of the alma mater while in the field or while carrying out an obligation. In addition, freshmen are also taught to work together and develop their creativity.

The material given in PPSM is the material related to the campus such as vision and mission, Polkesma work program, organizational structure and department, curriculum, academic and non-academic services, student ethics code, Siakad services, Library services, dormitory services, laboratory services. Also presented material about the prospects of job opportunities each department and professional organizations. As discussed above, the objective of PPSM is to shape the character as a health professional and hence activities are also filled with material that helps the realization of such objectives, such as anti-corruption materials and plagiarism, prevention of drug abuse and HIV AIDS, and build student character and motivation learn.

On the closing day of PPSM, all students from each departments have the opportunity to know what the student organization in Polkesma, and also have the opportunity to perform “yell” from each of the department in the activities of joint Ospek
